The hospital in NYC that my sister went up to work at ran out of sanitizer briefly a few days ago. They were using cheap tequila instead.

She's already recovered and headed to the protest tomorrow.

Ugh I know I just read the article. How deeply disappointing.

This is exactly the scenario that floats to mind every time someone here starts table-pounding about reopening the economy

Germany is now asking people to do more staying at home, after a partial reopen kicked their viral reproduction rate above 1.0. This is a really good demonstration of why it’s a folly to reopen without sufficient testing. We are under reporting our cases as is, and yet we still have above a 1.0 reproduction rate.

I heard this morning the state of Georgia viral reproduction rate is 0.81; which I thought was surprisingly low. We'll see if that is the case in a couple weeks as things start to reopen.

I used to be what I would consider a good person who cared about my fellow man, but that is so far gone at this point that I really don’t care what happens much outside of my immediate family and group of friends. So yeah, go ahead and open it all back up for all I care. Go get your haircuts and do your pointless shopping at Pier 1 for more useless garbage to add to your house. Act like it’s all behind us and go sit in a crowded bar or restaurant. Let God and the coronavirus sort it out, because people never will.

Not exactly how I feel, but seven weeks of being stuck indoors while politicians make horrible life-and-death choices based on polling talking points has soured my mood on just about everything.
I'm so over it dude. For two decades now this country has embraced anti-intellectualism, and this is where it's led us. Who needs science? Who cares what professionals and experts say? Let's let people with (if we're lucky) a high-school education and an ignorant worldview call the shots!

My new mantra is, "Let me know how that works out for you." I'll be working from home and having my groceries delivered until I see Congress back in session sans masks and hospitals allowing visitors again.

Yeah, at least when they detained asylum seekers indefinitely they were nice enough to separate them from their kids.

Also, prepare for the inevitable influx of these same morons suing states and businesses when they get the virus because "they should have done more!"
