Let's not cross streams here. I am looking forward to the album and am optimistic it will be a good one. However, with the two close countdowns and release of information I was really geeked. Since then my excitement has dropped to slightly irritated. It's from having a countdown ticking away for over 3 months. It's like being at work. You know 5 o clock comes at the same time everyday, but when you have nothing to do for that last hour except state at the clock, it becomes a very long and tedious hour.

yup. As I've said, I doubt they expected to try and maintain enthusiasm for 3 months. The initial announcement/single had one purpose--to give some meat to the new album tour announcement. And they probably had to announce that when they did for on sale purposes. I don't think they're going to start trying to drum up a constant level of enthusiasm until much closer to the release date.
Maybe they won't do anything, mind you. That's certainly a possibility. But i wouldn't EXPECT much of anything for at least another few weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Losing enthusiasm is one thing (there is usually at least a couple months from announcement till release) but it is as if they are asking people to lose interest.

9) Something else.
Very good. I'd like to hear a quote from Jeff on the album as he is usually fairly honest - I don't get the sense that he was happy with the time it has taken. This is what we have pre-announcement:
“I don’t think there’s any doubt we’re going to make a record, but when that’s going to be, and when everybody is ready to do it, well that’s another story."
“There’s a lot of ideas kind of floating around right now...I hope it comes out this year at some point. But, if it doesn’t, we have another RNDM record ready. If RNDM’s my band for the next year, I’m stoked.”
“I’m up for whatever. There’s a little bit of momentum within [RNDM] right now so I think we want to keep it moving.”

my reason for optimism is the demos/outtakes that will leak a few years from now.

in the end the thing we have to look for is not how excited people are now, but how excited they will be one week prior to the album

I think if two of the three songs we heard hadn't fallen relatively flat here, there might be more excitement about it. People who may not be fans of the new material are probably feeling like they'd wait and see, rather than go all in on the new record.
