I feel like the extra running time helped, especially in the last episode where scenes could build naturally to a definitive moment.

HAs anyone mentioned the music yet? Fantastic. Without it, it probably would have felt like a disjointed mess, but it all flowed together nicely.

i've played this 3-4 times today.

Bran would definitely give up his title of Lord of Winterfell at this point. But I don't think there's really any "succession" when it comes to King in the North (a few book theories notwithstanding); it's more about might and honor makes right.

Why wouldn't the King in the North follow normal rules of succession? The North follows the same inheritance rules as the rest of the realm.

I agree with you on Bran though, about not wanting the title at this point (be it Lord of Winterfell or King in the North, which I doubt you can really divorce at this point). And even if he did take it, I don't see him ever having an heir so after his death it would pass to one of his siblings and their children. Sansa if they go female, Jon if he legitimizes him.

You make some good points, chud, but obviously rules of succession have become a bit more lax recently in the realm (i.e., kin-slaying in Dorne, Cersei certainly jumping some Baratheon cousins for the throne, and whatever the Reach decides to do); when Dany lands, this stuff will become even more complicated. However, the North just seems to have a deeper connection to tradition and the rule of law than everywhere else, so they've got that going for them.
