Awesome movie.
I'm giving Magnolia a first watch. It's the only PTA movie I haven't seen and my expectations are unreasonably high.

Give him a break, he started the movie at around 6 and it’s 1030 now so he’s still got another couple hours to golennytheweedwhacker wrote:Tom?

Watched Malignant for the first time. I don’t like James Wan movies so I avoided it before now. Not a huge fan but it’s better than his other movies at least. Whenever I watch a movie that’s like an homage to gialli or something along those lines, it mainly reminds me how much better movies used to look.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Some recent movies I’ve seen thst I thought were really good:
The Red Turtle
Perfect Strangers
Elite Squad
The End Of The Tour
Finally jumping into 2020 today. Will do the full tour like with previous years, revisiting some movies, and primarily watching new movies, and even a few miniseries or tv series.

Soon we'll be on page 2001 of this thread. In honour of that, I think it would be nice if everybody watched that movie and posted about it on the next page.

It’s a classic.
We could also watch a movie from whatever year the page is on.

Actually, I see that new J Lo movie is out, so I might watch that instead.

Re: What movies are you watching?
I watched Lift with my wife last night. I absolutely hated it - everything felt off about it and I felt embaressed having selected it for us to watch. At the end my wife looks at me, and without any sarcasm goes 'Well that was quite fun wasnt it?'

Damn, add Alexander Payne to the list of directors whose work I'm not super into but whose 2023 film floored me. The Holdovers is a gorgeous piece of filmmaking, the best kind of period piece, adopting the language of 70s filmmaking instead of just playing dress-up. It's moving and melancholic but also deeply angry underneath it all. Way exceeded my expectations
