Trying to talk my girlfriend into going with me to see him in KC next month. I will tell her this and maybe it will inspire her.

Thanks for the tip, mate. Just noticed that his other new vinyl-only album 1984 is also on iTunes now too.

I should also add that I'm digging his S/T record too. Plenty of keepers here.

Fuck, I just realized he kind of looks like Mark Wahlberg. I hate Mark Wahlberg.
I just got done listening to 1984....man, how cool would it have been if he put this out instead as his 'new album'?

i've never really listened to ryan adams. never had any albums or anything until 1984, which i saw at the local shop a couple months ago and thought was kind of a cool idea, so i picked it up. i quite liked it. a couple weeks later a friend called up saying she had an extra ticket to his upcoming show, so i said 'sure, why not?'. that show was last night and it was great. he didn't play anything from 1984, so i really didn't know any songs, except for this one:
despite that, there were several songs that completely engaged me. there were a few extended jams (easy plateau, peaceful valley), and the dude's voice was really something to behold. he talked a lot, too much for one local writer's taste, but i thought he was hilarious. i'm not going to say he made me a fan overnight or anything, but i'll finally make a point to check out his catalog. he was impressive.
here was the set (thanks, solace)
Gimme Something Good
Let It Ride
This House Is Not For Sale
I Love You But I Don't Know What To Say
Stay With Me
I See Monsters
New York, New York
A Kiss Before I Go
Easy Plateau
English Girls Approximately
My Wrecking Ball
Cold Roses
Peaceful Valley
Kim
Oh My Sweet Carolina
Run To You (Bryan Adams cover)
Encore:
Come Pick Me Up (with Butch Walker)
