Everyone changes. But Ed's changed into someone who appreciates awards, somehow, which I find unacceptable.bodysnatcher wrote:yeah, but wouldn't it be kinda sad if he was the exact same person after 25 years?tree_ wrote:The Ed from the Grammy acceptance speech has somehow transformed into the guy at the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. So you're angry because his priorities changed? Funny thing is, they were always (especially Ed) all about being true to themselves, yet you're angry because they're doing just that?tree_ wrote:Everyone changes. You might think that his current music isn't personal to him, or that he's just phoning it in; but just because you personally can't relate to him doesn't mean somebody else can. He's not the angry kid he was back then. He was very idealistic (as I imagine you were) back then. Ideals change. Priorities change. People get older. People get wiser. What was important to him back then, isn't now, and vice versa.
So, yeah, 25 years happened. Don't blame a person for growing up. Ed can't be angry forever. Sorry you fell out of love.

Also, Ed has done stuff with the RRHOF since the early 90's. He clearly respects the institution and the bands inducted. Seems like a strange take to suddenly be turned off by that.

I can't imagine paying to meet someone famous and walking into the room with the unspoken knowledge between the two of you that you paid $31k+ to meet them. It just seems like the most awkward set up ever.

I would pay the amount, and the first thing I would ask Ed is: «Where’s my burger mate?»

Maybe it'd turn out like those movies where people get knocked out to change back, and he'd be able to sing again.durdencommatyler wrote:If Ed ever said the word "mate" to me, I'd punch him in the throat.Anders wrote:I would pay the amount, and the first thing I would ask Ed is: «Where’s my burger mate?»
