Turns out it’s fine. And measureably better than Can't Deny Me. So, no change.

Well put.

I hope it never changes for him, even if the end results are wildly variable.
agreed. i think this comes from his fine arts background + punk rock attitude. he obviously really enjoys creating, and does so with a looseness that awards him a larger area to explore within the confines of a song/painting/etc

I mean, pretty much. Mike is obviously still doing a bunch of side stuff with his scores and tv music, Matt had Cavedweller and writes all the Pearl Jam stuff anyway. So those guys are clearly still into writing music.

This is great!
Agree that the production on this is miles better than the last few Pearl Jam records.

agreed. shows how the production for an artist who doesn't want his vocals up front can differ compared to an artist who requires it

I have much stronger feelings about the guitar and drum sounds on the last two PJ albums than I do Ed’s vocals.

i'd be more interested in a PJ instrumental album, and an Ed solo album

This sounds like a Matt Cameron vs Jack Irons solo album showdown

There's always interesting ideas running through Jeff's music, admittedly the execution isn't always there, but yeah, this shits all over that garbage song they just released.

I didn't know Mike and Matt were also on Safe In The Car. That's fucking awesome.

I listened to this a few more times this morning on better headphones and I really, really dig it. This is a strong first "single" and if it's any indication of what we can expect from the record, it could very well end up knocking Bayleaf out of the #1 side project spot, for me. But that's putting the cart WAY before the horse. I'm just excited to hear more.

I agree with that Joe. It does sounds awesome...Bayleaf had the number one spot for a long time, but in the last couple of years RNDM won that, And of course im not counting Mad Season or Temple of the dog.
