I haven't done this, but I did try 3 to 6, and it works really well. Lots of parallels in the two movies, and like they say, watching that way actually makes 6 a better film.
They leave out 1 b/c nothing of real importance happens. It's essentially a waste of a flick, which I agree with. The only think you need to know is that Obi-Wan takes in Anakin, and Palpatine rises to Supreme Chancellor. Still though, you can gather that from the first 5 minutes of episode 2.
That's a great, great article. Thanks for posting that. Honestly, that's the first thing I've read or seen or heard in probably a good 10 years that's made me excited about Star Wars again.
I have to try that.
No prob. It certainly is an interesting way to view the saga. It got me real excited to see it again too, but I didn't feel like watching all of them again, so I just did 3 then 6.
3 was a bit better than I remember. I still have plenty of problems with it, but it's the strongest of the prequels (which isn't saying a lot). In some ways, I actually think I like 3 more than 6.
6 was kind of a waste too. The only things I really cared about was the Luke / Vader scenes, and the Luke / Vader / Emperor scenes. The rest of it was pretty lame. Those Luke / Vader / Emperor scenes though really tie in with episode 3 nicely. Luke essentially had the same choices (save his friends or let them die) as Anakin (save Padme).
One day, maybe around next Christmas or something, I'll watch the Machete order. I really do not care if I ever watch Episode 1 again.
Oh, one possible foreshadow for the new trilogy...in 6, Han tells Luke he's gonna die on Tatooine. It would be cool to see Luke either die of old age or get killed on Tatooine. It would make that line in episode 6 all the more important.

They seem to have a misguided approach to how a bathroom is supposed to function.

And what appears to be a shower-head on the counter. Yeah, maybe some composition could have gone into the image before they took it.

Somebody needs to do a psychoanalysis of George solely on the basis of these movies. There seem to be an awful lot of moments, ideas....even character names that become immediate red flag material ("So then a creature called Ponda Baba gets cut by a phallic light weapon? Tell me how that makes you feel, George") when looked at on their own merits.
