Those were the cries of the carrots.

For me, this is maybe in Pearl Jam's top ten. When it came out ahead of Binaural on some single I flipped over it. I'll never forget where and when I first heard it as the experience of that album was a high water mark in my love of the band.

For me, this track paled in comparison to Nothing As It Seems when I first heard it. It's a solid track that should have been earlier on Binaural. I enjoyed it live though.

I have 3 favourites on Binaural - Insignificance, Grievance and Sleight Of Hand.

This song is magic, specifically the studio version. I seem to recall an interview which stated Ed had serious writer's block during the making of this record, and Insignificance was one of the last songs he wrote. I can't imagine the album without this one.

Live, it's another story. Musically it always captures the intensity and power, but Ed does what he does when they play RVM live where he's too busy looking at his guitar playing so he pulls away from the mic and doesn't finish the lines of the song. Bugs the crap out of me, and knocks this song down a few marks because he doesn't commit to it like I want him to.

I know he can do it, because there's the odd version out there where he manages to pull it off.

Fantastic song, great music, great lyrics, great delivery on the record.

This song has stellar lyrics. Question: Does anyone know if "V3" is a reference to the Jim Shepard band? I know he had just committed suicide pretty recently when they were recording Binaural. Or is it just meant to be a jukebox song number and it's a coincidence?

Okay, some do, some don't. I'll trust that you're right. Question retracted, I guess.

What song do we imagine C-3 to be? I've always thought of it as a Neil Young song.

5 stars. From the first time I heard it as the b-side to NaiS. It immediately eclipsed the a-side of the single. Combined with Sad, the best Ed's written in the last 16 years.

Yeah I still don't love it. I like the lyrics more than the actual song. I'd like to hear a hardcore band cover it. Give a kick of energy.
