Why do you need rice (or Fritos)? Shouldn’t the chili speak for itself? Maybe it’s a Midwest thing, but we don’t do rice (or especially Fritos) around here.

There’s a dish down south called either chili pie or Fritos pie. It’s just chili, Fritos and cheese. Delicious. However, I’ve never heard of having rice with chili.

If rice or Fritos are not available, cornbread will definitely work.

Another tip: if you don’t have cocoa powder, finely ground coffee works just as well.
