That is the most fantastic gif I’ve ever seen
He comes across as a severally bitter old man who is pissed he got caught masturbating in front of women.McParadigm wrote:It’s just baffling. From the shitbag “you just pushed a fat kid in front of you” line to his complaining that they aren’t being rebellious because they are trying to change society rather than “finger banging and doing Jell-O shots.” It’s like the standup material Brett Kavanaugh would field test.

The whole set is on YouTube. It's fantastic.BurtReynolds wrote:Did the whole set leak or just that clip? I bet it's pretty funny.
Personal experience of being shot at does not make you an expert on any political issue. Actually, it serves as the opposite. You've been traumatized. OF COURSE you're against guns now.Anders wrote:Personal experience is not a bad start in a political matter. He's not making fun of the victims, he's calling out the incorrect perspective that being a survivor inherently provides you with anything special to offer on the political issue.
Uh.. I wish. I definitely would've been laughing loudly.wease wrote:tree_ must’ve been there
Being against guns sounds smart. I can see how personal experience can influence that opinion. Nothing wrong with that.tree_ wrote:Personal experience of being shot at does not make you an expert on any political issue. Actually, it serves as the opposite. You've been traumatized. he's a famous person in small club..if i laugh maybe he'll talk to me and we'll become friendstheplatypus wrote:I'm listening to that set and it's just boring and hacky. What are these people even laughing at? Are they just happy to be seeing Louis?

Comedians make jokes about horrific events all the time. Holocaust jokes, 9/11 jokes, catholic priest pedo jokes, etc. The moment those they went from victim to activist they yielded the protection you describe and so even though the joke is not funny at all, it’s not out of bounds. Just lame.wease wrote:Making a joke saying the only reason a kid lived thru that is because they pushed a fat kid out of the way is wrong on every level. It totally discounts and dismisses the horror that those kids and their parents went thru. Polished special or not, it’s just wrong. He sure as shit wouldn’t be making jokes like that if it was his own kids’ school this happened at. He’s a fucking douchebag that no excuse can cover for.The Argonaut wrote:The Parkland jokes were juvenile, offensive, entirely unfunny, and stupid as hell. BUT the thing to remember is that it was not part of some polished Louis special. It was leaked, not put out by Louis. That's how comedians develop stuff, in front of an audience. When you're alone, something might seem funny and appropriate, but then you say it to an audience and it makes you feel bad or you get a bad reaction and you realize and adjust. I am 100% positive that most of the introspective, brilliant jokes we know from Louis's specials started out as juvenile, raunchy jokes that he developed into something meaningful over time by working them out in front of audiences. This Parkland shit is maybe something he would've abandoned and never included in a special in any form. It's a little unfair to criticize and compare a leaked set to a polished special.
I think it's about how and when he says that. I don't remember exactly but I remember finding it funny, too.theplatypus wrote:I'm listening to that set and it's just boring and hacky. What are these people even laughing at? Are they just happy to be seeing Louis?

Have you ever found Louis funny? Maybe he's just not your style.theplatypus wrote:jesus this is dumb.
No one here is arguing otherwisetree_ wrote:Being able to laugh at horrific events can be healing. Nobody is happy about school shootings. Just take some time off from the horrors of life and let yourself laugh and you might feel better. It's called black comedy and it's what Louis has always done brilliantly.
... it seems to me multiple people are claiming the school shooting subject matter is taboo... which is what makes black comedy black comedy...LoathedVermin72 wrote:No one here is arguing otherwisetree_ wrote:Being able to laugh at horrific events can be healing. I just re-listened to it. They were laughing cause he said he thought he should leave the NATION... cause 'everyone currently hated him here in America' is the subtext. It's self-deprecating humor and I love it.tree_ wrote:I think it's about how and when he says that.
