Helvetia is a band started by Jason Albertini in 2005 after Duster broke up. They've been pretty active since then and dropped a new album out of nowhere last week, called Fantastic Life.
Here it is on Bandcamp:

Real Estate is one of my favorite discoveries of the last several years, but they can kind of sound a little same-y. This is a different direction and I like it. I'm reading references to Stereolab and Air in the press releases. Drops late February. Should be interesting.

So tired of 80's nostalgia in pop culture, though. That video has no place in this brave new decade.

It's not horrible by Eminem standards. I just wasn't prepared to watch him perform a reenactment of the Vegas shooting.

Sandro Perri has been quite busy the last few years, and he doesn't appear to be slowing down. A new thing he's doing this year is releasing a series of reinterpretations of songs from his discography. First up is "Sky Histoire (2020)," a new mix of the song originally released on his Plays Polmo Polpo EP which itself was a reinvention of a piece that he originally conceived under his ambient techno moniker, Polmo Polpo.
By, the way, anybody (SgtCrackpot) know why the Bandcamp track embed doesn't work anymore?
Anyway, here's another new thing, yet another release by the prolific Automatisme, Alter-, out March 16 through Force, Inc./Mille-Plateuaux. Two tracks, "Alter-Rate 9" and "Alter-Scape 7" can be streamed at the moment.

Thursday saw the release of the new Vennart single, "Dick Privilege" along with its B-side "Rat Catch." The songs were written, recorded, and mixed in a week, so they've got a bit if a tossed off feeling, but still pretty good. Heavier than most anything else Mike's put out under his own name so far. Here's that eponymous A-side:

the new Green Day is forgettable. I'm listening to it right now and I couldn't tell you what the songs I've already listened to were like. it's barely recognizable as a Green Day album.
at least Pearl Jam is releasing their album in the same quarter as the single. Imagine getting a single in September and then waiting until February to hear an album that's less than 30 minutes long. On top of that there are two more singles that have been released! That's a full quarter of the album that you've already heard just from the singles.
and I'm not knocking them for putting out a short album. ffs, they put out two 'operas' and then that triple album so a little brevity is welcome.
listening to Revolution Radio and I guess the best I can say is that at least they don't sound like that anymore, which after six or so albums was getting tiring.
