That's a given. It literally can't be worse.

It could be a little worse

The worst thing about that Paul Feig movie was how relentlessly just-okay-I-guess it was

Especially given the level of talent involved.

yeah, the best part of that movie was the cast.
They really sucked in the movie, but most of them are fine performers.

I think the performances in the movie are largely successful. The thing falls apart in other places. However, the things it does well, where it succeeds it is valuable and enjoyable, though.

I disagree completely.
Most of the good performers in that movie plain suck. They seem so lost its very sad.

Oh yeah im not trying to persuade you about that one, i know its a very important movie for you.

I respect that of course, and of course opinions on art are subjective. Maybe we can understand tastes with them. Not much more.

I knew nothing about this movie before I watched the trailer, so seeing Stranger Things kid in a Stranger Things movie was quite a turnoff.

I'm really sick of these "pass the torch" movies anyway. Just let these things die with dignity!

How often does it work? I'm struggling to think of any franchises that have successfully passed the torch.

It will be interesting to see if Marvel are able to pull it off in their next phase.

I'm sure this movie will be fine.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Look, I'm not someone who was asking for this movie. I'd be totally fine if it didn't exist. But as it stands, a director I like who has a real connection to the material is driving a vehicle passengered by Paul goddamn Rudd and Carrie fucking Coon???

You're goddamn right I'm gonna see this fucking thing. :bammer:

Yeah it's insane that they keep trying to do it. I can't think of a successful example off the top of my head.

not really, Hollywood (as a whole) is creatively bankrupt when it comes to big hits and just want to repeat success where possible.

The industry, such as it is, has moved far beyond art or entertainment, and fully into marketing and IP. That's the Twitter, Facebook, IG, advertising world we live in.

There is plenty of creativity in and around the industry. However, there is no monetary interest in backing it.

it feels like it's a difficult franchise they are trying to navigate here. they are having to appeal to very emotionally-connected and opinionated fanbase of a movie that was released 35 YEARS AGO. while at the same time trying to introduce an entire new generation to this story and franchise.
