However, I wouldn't expect us to agree on such a list, maybe a few movies. From reading that I think Alita is what grabbed me. I watched it while flying to Asia this summer, and never has hours on a plane gone by so quickly. I thought was a very entertaining and well made movie.
I agree with your comments on Adam Driver and the de-aging in The Irishman, although I thought the movie was excellent, once I looked past that.
The King is a favorite of mine as well. I think I'll see it again soon.

TOP 20 FILMS OF 2019*:
20. Long Shot
I'm as surprised as anyone that a Seth Rogen comedy could still be good in 2019, but this lovely film about learning to accept oneself as worthy of love has a sweetness at its core that totally won me over.
I'm not sure I'd put this on my top list, but I liked this a lot more than I thought I would.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I thought Long Shot was mediocre. It never finds a tone; all the broad, silly comedy felt very wrong for the material. The “I am worthy of love” theme was barely that - really just stated text that’s never explored in a satisfying way.

this is the correct response. Perhaps plat feels a weird sympathy with Seth Rogen on account of their large heads.
100%

I won't give a top ten, I'll just rank the movies I've seen so far that I feel are great
Uncut Gems
Honey Boy
Peanut Butter Falcon
Parasite
Booksmart
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
and then there's stuff like Ford v Ferrari or Knives Out or Motherless Brooklyn which were good and stuff like The Lighthouse or Little Women which were better than good but didn't quite transcend to great for me

Uncut Gems could actually challenge for a spot in my decade's top ten. I need to give it a few months to stir, then give it a re-watch to know for sure. But it was tremendous

I forgot that I watched and loved the latest Takashi Miike film, First Love. That knocks Long Shot out of its spot.

Saw Ford vs Ferrari. Easily one of the best movies of the year.
