I like both but the nod goes to SOLAT. I would argue that it is one of the few songs from that era of the band that still sounds as good today as it did then.

I've never been i huge fan of either song. I never seek them out. I probably prefer Breath if I had to vote.

I like them both but I'm going with the majority here and agree with State. It's one of my favorites in their catalog.
So many good songs from the Ten era that didn't make the album. I wonder if we'll ever say that again?

maybe binaural and riot act, i wouldnt say they were as good, but they produced quite a few good non album tracks with Sad, Fatal, Down, Undone, Otherside, Education, In The Moonlight and a few lesser ones, but that was also the end of non album track b sides as well, who knows what kinda stuff came out of S/T and Backspacer aside from of the earth

I prefer any of these to either SOLAT or Breath.

After listening to both of these during my walk back from the park I am changing my vote to breath. Both titanic songs though

Easily.

I don't think "Down" or "Undone" are anywhere as good as either of these two songs. Especially "Down".

I absolutely like In The Moonlight more. But I'll have to think about those others.

Maybe, I don't know. To be perfectly honest with you, I haven't listened to Breath in quite a long time. I've definitely soured on SOLAT over the years though.

In fact, I just checked my rankings and I've got In The Moonlight ranked at #18, right above SOLAT.

I agreed with that statement because he used the word "prefer". Breath might be better than Down and/or Undone but I'm not questioning it against the other songs listed. Those are all better songs.

I've had the same experience. It's a "right song for the right moment" kind of track, for me, and after about 16 or 17 the moment (again...for me) was gone.

I guess if the frequency with which I listen is a factor of and/or another way of saying "prefer" then In The Moonlight, Education, Sad and Otherside are preferable to me.

Where are these rankings? Can we get a link back to that thread?

Don't think I can answer this one. State was the song that got me hooked on PJ.
But I enjoy both. Think I prefer Breath live cos it rarely is played live. And state gets so rushed these days.
I can't answer this. They're both great and hold a special place in my heart.

Ten, Vs, No Code, Yield, Binaural, and Riot Act all produced several b-sides. I wonder if the other sessions were less prolific or if they just held material back in case they wanted to use it again. There have been a number of songs written for one album and used later.

I feel like it's pretty reasonable to assume at this point that there aren't any lost treasures from the Vitalogy sessions. That album itself seemed to be a ragged assemblage of sorts, cohesive as it ended up being. With the last two albums, I think the logical explanation is that the CD single format has essentially vanished as a commercial medium, thereby eliminating what had historically been the band's most reliable distribution route for B-sides. I realize there are other ways of getting the music out there but I suspect that plays into it to a degree. I'm sure we'll see the stuff someday.
