Well, considering the title of the thread changed from “hasn’t made a crap album” to what it is now, I would agree.

I don’t think he’s made a crap album, but consistently excellent? Perhaps not.

I would argue that Pure Comedy is hurt by Leaving LA, which is entirety too long, and kills the album. Make that track shorter, or cut it altogether, and I’d say it’s excellent.

Fear Fun - excellent
I Love You, Honeybear - excellent
Pure Comedy - good
God’s Favorite Customer - excellent

I also think Bill Callahan has made consistently excellent albums under his own name.

He’s made excellent albums as Smog, but I’d be hard-pressed to say consistently excellent.

I would say each is better than the last there. also I wish there were news about an actual date + tour.

Yeah, I'm getting real itchy waiting on new album/tour news, too.

Great call in Portishead...

Can someone sketch out the arc of the Arctic Monkeys albums? I heard their debut a fair bit, not much since then but I gather they're evolved somewhat?
I'm not sure I'm the one to properly answer your request. But yeah they've evolved a lot. AM is poppy, catchy and lose in a refreshing way but their most recent record is almost unrecognizable (when viewed from their debut).
