can any guitarists explain to me why that very basic two-chord verse riff sounds so very irresistibly *warm* to me? it's clean, but there must be some effect on it?

YUP. This one exceeded my expectations. Mainly because I had low expectations of it, but it’s legit good. Jeff’s bass is the standout. Mike’s solo is pretty damn sweet. I like how Ed sings this.Habitman wrote:This is so much better than all the songs we thought this song was gonna be.
