Yeah, this song rules. It's like a Parting Ways sequel. Sonically at least, not sure about lyrics.

I wasn't expecting to like this one based on the descriptions, but this is great.

I'm getting some U2 in this one, maybe a slowed down Desire or something, can't quite place it.......

I still just want more background ambience; take half of what's going on in "River Cross" and plonk it in here

that said, maybe it's effective to give this one lots of space to breathe, since there's so much sweet sonic flourish in the rest of the album it even begins to get a little taxing

I love the second two "comes then goes" where the melody lifts higher

Im surprised on how i like this one....yeah i would have loved to have the band do something here...but as far as an eddie solo song, i love it.
I love the melody, how the guitar sound, his vocals.

Great surprise.

This is a great performance. But yea, really wished they had added more to it.

Dirty harmonica? Slide guitar? Tom waits?

the way his voice and guitar are mic'd are grade A fucking perfect. that canyon deep acoustic with his gentle in-the-room vox

anyone complaining about his voice these days should look at this as exhibit A for him really reigning it in and staying within the lines.

I'll 4 stars this one. Great melody, good lyrics. I really dig a few of the lines in the context of the song - especially the final couplets in each verse

i'm just giving an equivalent from the last album in tone and feel. this is miles and miles better.
