I don't really need an impossibly silly torture porn storyline to make me lose my faith in humanity.
Lam Luong, Josef Fritzl, Ariel Castro, and especially Riley Choate took care of that for me just fine.

I sort of liked Happiness. Loved Requiem after seeing it at the cinema, even though it made me feel awful. Oldboy is an excellent film, no problems with that one. Irreversible is very difficult to watch. I don't remember much of I Spit On Your Grave other than that it seemed kind of cheesy.
I feel like I should see Kids, Deliverance and Dancer. Based on all evidence available to me I'd suggest that those Hostel and Centipede movies are nothing but garbage.

This is me. Saw it at the cinema, thought about it a lot, bought it on DVD and have never been able to watch more than about the first twenty minutes.

It's really not as disturbing as many of the other films in that list. Once you reach the "newborn porn" scene, everything just feels super silly and over-the-top.

I'm not sure how to reconcile this as not being as disturbing as the other films when you mention "newborn porn"
Also - that last scene (from what I read) is just disturbing on so many levels

It's really not. I was way more disturbed by (the technically much tamer) Funny Games, Happiness, Oldboy and Dancer in the Dark from that list, as well as the other films I listed earlier. Yeah, you can depict incredibly fucking depraved, heinous acts on film, but they can either feel intensely devastating or comically farcical, depending on how you handle them as a filmmaker.

I've only seen Hostel 1. Can someone tell me why the 2nd is in that list but not the 1st? Should I be checking out the 2nd one? The first one was pretty much just pointless torture and titties.

I don't know that I'd be hunting down the 2nd one. For me - the 1st one was one that I wish I could unwatch.

I was wondering this as well.
I saw the first Hostel with a bunch of foreigners in the TV room of an actual hostel. There was a bit of nervous laughter.

That could have made my watching experience a bit more enjoyable....
