Guerrilla Radio is one of the few RATM songs that I'm familiar with already. I love it.

And I know I'm just begging for it here but I also really love that cover Alanis did some years back (fuck, was that over a decade ago now?). It's not as powerful or inspired as the original, obviously. And I don't like it more than the original. But it's a great example of what I like in a good cover. She totally makes it her own.

Anyway, yeah.

The Battle Of Los Angeles is a great record. Really enjoyed listening to that. I'm not much of a hard rock guy anymore so I don't think I can listen to more today. But I'll listen to one of their other albums tomorrow. This should be fun. I'm looking forward to participating in this tournament.

Thanks, LMS.

It is a good album yeah, but their debut is untouchable for me. Its so fucking good. Morello, Wilk and Commerford are so fucking on fire, and Zach is just out of this world.

Alanis covered Rage? didnt know that.

I'll listen to their debut tomorrow! That's the self-title one, right?

Just looking at the track list now, and I don't recognize any of those songs by their title. It's possible once I hear it, I'll know some of them.

Exciting!

You'll know at least 1, and enjoy quite a few more.

Rage is a top 10 band of all time and I’ll hear nothing of it from dissenters.

I miss this guy.

It wasn't just a liberal dude haranguing; it was a group of artists making art. It's not like they were saying trite things "NO WAR! PEACE NOW! DOWN WITH FASCISTS!" etc., they were saying things like:

The world is my expense, the cost of my desire
Jesus blessed me with its future and I protect it with fire
So raise your fists and march around, don't dare take what you need
I'll jail and bury those committed and smother the rest in greed
Crawl with me into tomorrow or I'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children, they'll betray you in my name

That's poetry, man.

Yeah, me too. Hope he comes back soon. Even though I can't really interact with him, it would be nice reading his posts again and listening to the conversations he has with others.

Their debut, while undeniably one of the strongest debut albums of all time, was easily surpassed by the next two records. Way more interesting drum and bass stuff there, broader pallet of sounds from Morello, and Zack loosened up a bit, and had lyrics that were far more interesting in their specific historical contexts. That first album was a template, but those next two are on another level entirely.

And I haven’t seen confirmation yet that Jukebox will be on the tourney, which it definitely should be, as its one of their stronger tracks.

yeah, it one of the best debuts of all time. I feel they top their game in that one too. The other two are fucking awesome but that one is just...a masterpiece.

Also I did listen to Renegades this morning for the first time in a long while, and I’d say about half that record rises far higher than the concept of “Rage covers old songs,” while the other half is basically just that and not much more.

Agreed. Not a weak track on the album.
