I think in the youtube app you can get to youtubetv but not the other way around. They set that up during their dispute with Roku.muttuphalfdead wrote:I feel like YouTube TV should have a channel that links directly to YouTube. I hate that I have to close out of the TV app to get to it

Re: Which streaming services do you use?
Can someone please explain the benefit of streaming providers just removing their own content from their service? I keep reading about Disney in particular removing shows from the service. Why? They aren't paying anyone to keep it on there. I saw they are removing Willow, and now one of the best things they've done in recent years, The Mysterious Benedict Society.

Re: Which streaming services do you use?
They counted beans. They found out how many people use Disney+ to watch old episodes of Willow (a very small number of people). How many of those people would cancel if we pulled those shows? How much does it cost to keep them up (not just servers but also residuals to writers and actors and whatnot)? How many of those people will buy a DVD or VOD if their preferred show isn't on streaming? Put the numbers into a formula and whichever gets the most pennies wins.
Alternatively, protecting the brand. Someone signs up for Disney+ to watch Star Wars content and enjoys it. But they get through that and try something else. If the first thing they look at is something they don't like, like Willow, will they cancel? Quality over quantity sort of thing. The argument against this is that you can leave something available but have the algorithm bury it. So one would have to search for Willow but never be recommended Willow.

In the sense that it’s a crumby fate for these works, not that it’s unfortunate that Argo is the one who expressed it.

Are all of Disney's animated movies on there? They used to keep a lot of those in the vault and only release them at certain times to keep interest high.

Re: Which streaming services do you use?
I raised this in the other thread where we were discussing this, that I can totally envision a future where classics are rotated in and out of the vault, or tiered pricing where you get different “channels” (Marvel, Star Wars, classics, etc.). It’s just going to become cable again.BurtReynolds wrote:Are all of Disney's animated movies on there? IN FACT:
I've been watching a bunch of movies recently on the Watch TCM streaming app, an app I have access to specifically because my cord is not cut
