I haven’t seen Godzilla, but Kong was fun. John C. Reilly is always funny.

I'm excited for this because at least it looks better than a lot of the stuff my kids want to watch with me, and King Kong was my favorite 'monster' as a kid. Definitely looks better than that last Godzilla turd of a movie.

Was Kong in that one?
No.
He had a little cameo IIRC
It was a cave painting wasn’t it?
I think we see him for a second

Watched the first Godzilla in this little movie universe this morning. I enjoyed it.

Guys, just accept that Kong is bigger and stronger now.

I was thinking it would be a smart marketing decision to release two cuts of this like they did with the old ones. One where Kong wins and one where Godzilla wins. Audiences would have to see both, but wouldn't know which one they were going to see before they bought the ticket.

But with the old one the two different versions were for two sides of the world! To see both, you’d have to travel to Japan.

That would be cool but continuity is everything in this shared-universe-obsessed world

If I'm not mistaken, there are plans for more Godzilla and Kong movies, right? So I doubt either really "wins"

Ultimately the plan is for King Kong to kill Godzilla but then Iron Man will bring him back to life, and then Godzilla and Iron Man will kill King Kong but then Wonder Woman will bring him back to life, and then Wonder Woman and King Kong will kill Godzilla and Iron Man, but then

The human element was absolute trash, but the hazey atmosphere in the second half was spot on. Loved the monster fights.

Here's the theory if you don't want to watch:
Spoiler: show
Godzilla died after the last movie, and this one is a smaller one. Someone will turn the old Godzilla body into MechaGodzilla. The new Godzilla and Kong will have to team up and fight MechaGodzilla.

On The Watch podcast from last week, Andy Greenwald said, "I watched this trailer, and now I'm wondering if we deserve the vaccine." It made me lol even though I will probably watch this movie. Godzilla was probably a B- and Kong: SI was a solid B. I haven't watched the last Godzilla yet, but really feel like I won't need to in order to enjoy this one (if there's anything to enjoy).
