That may take too long! I have an itch for a new PS5 experience since beating Returnal to death and this is the most truly next-gen one yet, apparently. I just wish it were a different style, but I'm sure I will be impressed and enjoy it. Plus my kid might enjoy watching this one.

Picked up Ratchet, but won't get around to it until Sunday at the earliest. A weekend trip to the in-laws awaits...

Didn’t realize performance mode is only an option after downloading the update. Gonna wait to play further. Cannot play games at 30 FPS anymore.

Isn't there a 60 fps/RT mode that is a little bit lower fidelity? That's what I'm going to do. How long will the update take to download for you?

Yeah I’m going with that one too. Took about three hours for 3.08 GB.

Damn that sucks, my update downloaded in less than 20 mins over WiFi. I think I'm going with the 60fps RT option as well.

Goodness. Rural internet is an atrocity. My dad's shop only has a stable connection on clear days.

So it turns out I prefer performance mode without ray tracing. The higher resolution is more noticeable I think.

I’m having a great time. Again, a game I didn’t know I wanted. PlayStation five is pretty great so far.

I was wrong, RT Performance is the way to go. Too many reflective surfaces in this game.

I kind of figured Sony would have some sort of online event this week, but it looks like they are sitting it out completely.

Yeah, which sucks but not surprised. I'm assuming they may hold their own kind of event or extended State Of Play later this summer.
I've only made it to Rivet's first appearance in Ratchet & Clank, which I think means I'm about 10% into the game. It's fun as hell and plays amazingly on Fidelity mode so I've kept it there. I noticed some big downgrades to fidelity in the performance mode (at least on my TV) so I'm fine settling for 30fps, it still moves fast enough for me. It's pretty easy so far so I think this is one of those rare games where I'll be completing on a harder difficulty setting.

In many ways, it makes perfect sense to not get lost in the noise of this week. Do something in mid-July once the E3 hype calms down. May even give them some time to prepare a response to Xbox's very solid presentation.

Microsoft clearly took notes from the last few lackluster outings. Presentations seem to contain more gameplay and most games received release dates or very least wide windows (i.e., 2022). Think it's safe to say Sony doing their own thing moving forward is probably now SOP
