Again, i don’t hate it. I just don’t think it is top 30. Definitely worse than some of the songs it beat in this tourney

I think Ed just makes phonetic sounds which are vaguely close to 'so high the boughs they break'.
I don't think it's intentional, I think he just forgot the original lyrics years ago and fudges his way through.
Kind of like how he forgot the original lyrics to Alone and now sings a weird fan interpretation, presumably he Googled (?!) the lyrics and that's what he found.
