The streak of there being one song that's a big RM fav that I really don't like continues! :heartbeat:

This must be how Ruddo feels when we all blather on about In My Tree.

But I'm glad y'all are digging it. I hope it opens up for me over time.

the guitar in this really reminds me of "I'm Still Your Fag" by Broken Social Scene

Good call. There is a BSS feel to it. It also has the aesthetics (but not the time trickiness) of a lot of math rock

it was really bothering me because it had a familiarity to it... and I kept thinking BSS. Then I listened to I'm Still Your Fag, and that was the closest thing, but I agree with you, other parts of the song also are reminiscent of BSS

Jeff is doing some really cool things here. He's leaving a few blank spaces near the end and I like the stopstutter feel of it. And the percussion is really lovely.

The reversed feedback (or is it ebows?) near the end also give the song such a hazy, dreamlike quality. I love this!

Interesting. It was an instant favorite for me
I've only listened to it once so far and I liked it, but I need to wrap my head around it more.
yes for whatever reason this clicked right away for me. this is exactly the kind of welcome departure I was looking for.

That's 12/8 time, right?

It's a wonderful song. Stone is Benmont Tench texture on some songs and Keith Richards writer on others. And sometimes he's Malcolm Young, others Joe Walsh. Stone is the reason this band remains top tier. He gets it.
