I still think that the chorus of "I Am Mine" sounds like Creed, but nobody in the whole world agrees with me.

Surprised at the hate-fest in this thread for this one

This song transports me back to an early era of PJ before the sticker sets were the primary focus

has that early-era angsty-ness that has gone by the wayside

and a style of harmony that PJ has since retired

there is subtle beauty to the lyrics
I was drawn...
Riding atop a black horse.
Whatever prize there was,...
I could only observe...
Where the trouble starts.
Where does it end?
How can I be cured?
How, before it ends?

I know... life would be different if I... held on. Held on.
I know... I could be something if I... held on.

Gave her life away,...
Put it in my pocket when it shoulda been framed.
Oh, I lost its shine.
Gotta get this outta my head,...
Out of my bed!
How could it end,...
End like this?
How could it end?

I know... life would be different had I... held on. Held on.
I know... I could be something had I... held on. Held on.
I know... I could be something if I... held on! Held on.
I know... life would be different if I... held on! Held on!

Held on. Held on. If I...
Held on. Held on. If I...
Held on. Held on. If I...
Held on. Held on.

It’s not the best lost dog song, but it felt like the biggest find. I thought we had all the Ten era songs on boots (Brother, Just a Girl), but this came out of nowhere. I would have bought a comp or soundtrack in 92 just for this song.

I fucking LOVE this song. I don’t know what was going on in my life when I first heard it, but it really resonated with me and that has never gone away. Like the electric version better, but still like acoustic, too.

On of my favs from Lost Dogs. Cant really believe they didnt release it before on an album or a b side...its pretty much a classic PJ Vs era song.

For some odd reason i found myself listening to this one (and its various versions) today.

Was the version on Lost Dogs essentially an old take with new at the time Ed vocals?

It did. That version was pretty great except for Jeff trying to figure out a bass line for it.

Yeah that one is a little rough but probably my favorite of the three.

Really don't care for the accoustic take.

i like the acoustic take for what it is, an outtake, a version. It features Ed in a very cool low registre and i love every time he chooses to sing that way.

I think this has become of one of my favorite outtakes of all-time. I think despite my ambivalence over all of the changes on Lost Dogs, I can understand the choice to re-record the vocals on "Hold On." I still like listening to the Rare + Unreleased Sony promo version though, and imagine where it might have fit and why it was ultimately cut and was never even played live or appeared as a b-side! Shocking to me that songs like "Brother" and "Just a Girl" managed to leak to bootleggers but no one even knew the name of this song.

The Lost Dogs version is certainly a more "polished" vocal, but a song like this i think just lends itself more to 90/91 era Ed's voice. I definitely get why it didnt make Ten or Vs. but certainly seems like a worthy b-side.

The verse is cool but the chorus is pretty awful, with that lame and weedy guitar lead in between the vocal lines that sounds out of key. It bothers me every time I hear it.

It's very amateurish and probably the weakest song from the Ten *and* VS sessions.

In my opinion.

It’s one of them but almost everything is gold. This is schlocky fun. I like it quite a bit
