I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Which is not to say that I think my Star Wars pick is a bad pick. It's certainly more representative of me as a person/competitor in this tournament. It makes sense that it's on my team. But it's the only movie on my list that isn't in my top 10 films of all time.

I do think Kendrick was a missed opportunity though. I get why you picked her but imagine if you'd taken Blanchette--an absolute steal in the final round for Rudd and one of his best pieces.

My top five directors are all represented (between the director category and the films selected). My top four films of all time are on my list. I genuinely think that my 60's, 80's and 90's picks are the best films of their respective decades. My actor picks were pretty easy and I think both are solid not only in quality of each performer but also in draft value.

The only pick that felt "taken" from me was the 70's movie. There were some actors taken that I considered and may have gone with but ultimately I ended up taking the two that I'd had in mind the longest. I probably would have gone with Edward Norton if I wasn't trying to avoid too much crossover in picks. I already had Fight Club so I didn't see the need.

But I do think he's one of the best of his generation.

Yeah I don't think Norton would really change your team, for exactly the reason you give here.

Norton is too nerdy for me. I probably respect the Kendrick pick more.

She was another one in major contention for me. Actually, both of Ruddo's actor picks were on my big board. I almost pulled the trigger on both of them.

But I also felt like, after Star Wars, I didn't want to concede or overthink again. I fucking adore Anna Kendrick. Honestly, I struggled with my 2010's movie -- I was so close to taking Pitch Perfect.

Honestly, that's the best way to play it. I think I got in my own head there. The Godfather is a great movie and great pick.
Nothing hipster about it on my end. Of course I can recognize the brilliance of the movie, but there are usually 10 other films from that decade I would prefer to watch over and over again
That's how I landed on Star Wars. At the end of the day, it made sense with my personality and it was a different color for my team over all, but mostly it was 'okay, what movie on my 70's short list can I watch over and over again and still love every minute of?'

I felt like I had too many other films already that didn't fit that bill. Like Do The Right Thing, for example.

I mean, ultimately, Pain and Glory is the far better movie. And it gave Almodovar (whom I goddaman ADORE) representation on my team. It was the right call all around.

But man I really waivered on that one....

This poll does have 4 more votes than any other, which is also suspect.

They have over 150,000 posts combined. The matchup did kind of stand out as a clash of titans.
