Its funny...
The people that want proof Pearl Jam and Ed still have it think they are recent recordings
The people that want proof that pearl jam an vedder sucks now and everyone else is a midnless sheep, are positive these are older recordings.
Or you know, we've all listened to enough Pearl Jam over the years to pinpoint idiosyncrasies that come from certain time periods.
Of course, my point is, who gives a shit...

Seriously, what happened?
It's as though they accidentally broke Pearl Jam part-way through the recording sessions of the S/T album and they're even now still trying to figure out how to put it back together again.
What a strange and frustrating band.
Brendan O'Brien. It has to be. Did he have any part in S/T?

Or the person who was legit given these burnt them to a mix CD and then they were extracted from that.

I dont think the band is incapable of writing music like this. I think they have just decided that singing yeah yeah yeahs during a concert is more enjoyable for them or everyone than playing - good music. That is the unfortunate thing.

That's the problem, there aren't manufactured crowd responses in these.

So...the South American dates in 2005 are to blame?

If they only realised that the organic moments in these songs, that natural build in Let iT ride, provides the cathartic release that is far more emotionally engaging and rewarding than screaming MIND YOUR MANNERS AW HUH!

I have always thought this. It was a clear turning point to how the band approached their live shows. And with that, came a new approach to their music.

He's been doing shades of that in varying degrees since Self Titled. End of Inside Job, anyone?

I still like MYM a lot. They are different types of music. The thing is; we didnt get a lot of these slow burners in BS and Avocado so we missed them. A lot.

Love hte vocals on Cold Concessions...
Sounds like Ed just left a smokey dive bar, came home for a night cap and listened to some tom waits, drank some beers, smoked a few ciggies then decided to lay down some vocals in a dark room....
