Neil Young as a guest on Rogan would've been absolutely hilarious and I'm genuinely sorry that it didn't happen

I catch the occasional clip on youtube. I'll watch when he has like big wave surfers or a mountain climber who doesn't use a rope....extreme sports types or a guy who got bit by a shark or crocodile or chased by a bear. I like goofy stuff like that. One time he had a Russian guy who was really into kettle bells. I watched the entire thing for some reason. I think the curious idiot description is right on. He's not a malicious purveyor of misinformation he's just a meatball.

My brother is an avid listener and sends me clips. It usually just has the air of stoned morons who think they’ve figured something out but are just too dumb to realize that they’re dumb. “Your models say the climate will change, bro, but like…climate is evvvverything, bro. It’s everything. Your models can’t have everything.”

But I’ve noticed it’s always shit like this that he is most likely to send me:
ROGAN: They have male minds. They have, you know, years and years of having gonads and having testosterone flow through their body and all of the, you know, hypersexual things that come from that. And one thing that comes from being a biological male is they generally tend to be more aggressive. They tend to be more assertive. They tend to try to dominate whenever possible if left unchecked, and if their egos are not, you know, well-managed. But the big complaint that I hear from women is that these trans women invade these traditionally just biological women groups and they sort of handle them like a man.

MURPHY: And, or they’re predators. I mean, like --

ROGAN: Right.

MURPHY: You know, yeah, or worse

ROGAN: Or worse.

He’s kind of a moron (and admits this nearly every episode), but some of his guests have a lot to say and they can be surprisingly candid on his show, which can make for a worthwhile listen.

Right. His fans accepted that a long time ago because it does in some ways fuel what makes him exceptional.

Is is funny watching the Trump cult lash out at him though.

The best is when they trot out that Lynyrd Skynyrd lyric, entirely unaware that they were huge Neil Young fans and were sarcastically taking the piss out of the typical Alabama redneck. Add the Kid Rock element to that and it's too funny. Shades of "Born In The USA" at Republican rallies. I think Rogan even tried to bring it up LOL. A real zinger.

Neil isn’t protesting Rogan directly; he’s protesting Spotify for giving Rogan a wide platform and not censoring misinformation.

70 times feels like a lot of times to use racial slurs near a microphone, for someone who spends so much of his time sitting around discussing and cataloging the risk of exactly this phenomenon.

I guess I just feel like there's so many crazies out there. If someone tells me they're a fan of Alex Jones... oh man. I have people in my life who are entertained by that guy. As a general rule, I try to never look down on people for their views, but Alex Jones makes that so hard. I'm sure many of us have older relatives who like Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck (Rush, until recently). I don't think they rise to the level of A Jones, but they are so much worse than a Joe Rogan. Making a comic/fighter with a popular podcast some kind of public villain, because he entertains some controversial opinions or even some misinformation, is not going work. He's relatively tame compared to so much out there. Going hard against this guy isn't going to move anyone, and will just make his critics look like they're going too far.
