Here's my answer to the tipping question. I leave 20% basically no matter what, either rounded up to the next whole dollar if I'm leaving cash or with the right amount of change to get my bill to a .00 whole number if it's going on the card. If I'm just super super bummed about the experience at the restaurant I might leave a dollar less than 20%. And here's the part I'm not proud about: good looking female servers who were nice to me get a bigger tip. I'm not proud of it but it's true

I tip dudes and homely gals better because I've always suspected they're getting screwed by the Argos of the world.

don't get me wrong, the food was incredible i just don't remember it..that seems to happen with all the great restaurants..i couldn't tell you what i had at 11 madison or per se or the french laundry either..maybe just a smattering of it..its just that the service was waaaaay too much me..wouldnt stop me from going again though

My brother just turned 30 and recently started his first job outside of the restaurant industry in about nine or ten years. He started as a dishwasher at Applebee's, then was a busboy and later a bartender. For a long time, he was a server at a local restaurant and had been the manager of one of the locations the last three years. He was very ready to move to another industry. My sister also worked as a server for a good part of her twenties. I never did

Poor service should not be rewarded, at least not generously. So refreshing to see spike coming in as a voice of reason.
