this is my default answer - there are more songs rather than whole albums Id like to see other drummers take a shot at, but Dave feels like the most adaptable, and of all the drummers has the best ability to make a song sound important/is most likely to elevate more minor material

Dave A did well in his three years in the band, and seems like an interesting guy. But he does feel like the one guy that the band has fully moved on from. Dave K they did the Hall Of Fame with, he was good on Alive there. Jack is always a good friend of the band.

I loved Jack's drumming on his two PJ albums and Merkinball, so would love to hear more from him. Think it would be like an insult to Matt C if it happened though. So not worth it. But Jack, not on Binaural or Riot Act, but the three albums following Riot Act.

I agree that a reunion with Jack is far more likely to happen on this timeline; it'd be fun to see!

Jack on Riot Act is the answer.

I think this is the right choice. To the band's credit, so many of their records when they were changing drummers seem to incorporate the particular skills and peculiarities of whoever is behind the kit at the time, making it hard to do easy swaps. It's hard for me to envision Jack drumming Binaural, for example, just because I'm not really sure a chunk of those songs, particularly things like Insignificance or Grievance, would have even been written had Jack still been playing with them. But Riot Act has a looseness and eccentricity that dovetails with Jack's strengths. It's hard for me to envision Dave A. on anything after his departure, besides maybe S/T.

He would have crushed Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.

I think the fact that I can't imagine Dave A on anything post-Dave A is what excites me about the idea

I normally hate on Dave A if only because there’s this consensus idea that they never should have gotten rid of him…but you are right about this. Cymbals and all.

I should say ALL of Vitalogy, except Whipping.

Wikipedia says:
Jack Irons – drums on "Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me"
Dave Abbruzzese – drums, except on "Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me" and "Satan's Bed".
Drums on "Satan's Bed" were performed by Abbruzzese's drum tech Jimmy Shoaf.

I think Light Years especially would greatly benefit from Jack's looser feel. Less stiff thudding and a little more swing to it.
