2010 was one of the worst years that I can remember personally.

2010 up to now has been unprecedentedly bad, tbf.

But decidedly lacking in actual apocalypse.

The lyric changes that have bothered me the most have been the changes like "Daddy" to "Father" in songs like Jeremy.

I think that sometimes Ed makes a change to songs based on who he is or has become rather than keeping the lyrics based on the perspective of the character in the story being told.
