not looking forward to seeing how nolan once again completely ruined the opportunity to convey a compelling story in a too-cute-by-half way.

Reading some more stuff about this, early screeners coming out “devastated”. I’m coming around to wanting to see this. I guess it is a story I’m interested in after all

Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
Should I book tickets to go down to the city to see it in IMAX 70mm? The long-unfindable The Mother and the Whore is about to start a run in the same neighborhood where the IMAX 70mm theatre is. If they were playing at the same time, I'd definitely go and make a weekend of it. But I'm not sure either one by itself is worth it.
Should I go see Oppenheimer in IMAX 70mm???

Are people forgetting this is the same guy who made Dunkirk and Tenet? Emotional movies these are not.

Dunkirk is actually quite emotional and captivating. I haven't seen Tenet.BurtReynolds wrote:Are people forgetting this is the same guy who made Dunkirk and Tenet? Emotional movies these are not.

I was gonna say his attempts to inject emotion into his movies have been disastrous. Just be the sterile, distant guy. It's fine. Sort of. I guess.E.H. He's really good at conveying tension and anxiety, and I can't think of a more appropriate subject than the friggin' nuke. This ain't exactly a love story.BurtReynolds wrote:I was gonna say his attempts to inject emotion into his movies have been disastrous. Just be the sterile, distant guy. It's fine. Sort of. Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
dude have you seen dunkirk lately? I teared up at least twice from the human emotion it conveyed on screen. And it avoided anything cliche or easy. It's a smart yet emotional movie.tragabigzanda wrote:I think this will make a fairly enjoyable movie about ethical paradoxes, but Burt’s right the Nolan is probably incapable of rendering human emotion on screen
