Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

breaking bad strikes me as a lesser version of sopranos and mad men, but squarely within that taxonomy

so long as all parties agree that these are the four best contemporary television dramas, i begrudge no poster their particular ranking.

but i am keen to hear what shouldd be in the subject line. my guess is after next week some might say saul. there was a time in the middle of the second season of barry that I thought it was possible it would be here, too.

Better Call Saul is held back by its dependence on Breaking Bad. There are too many "tee hee remember this guy" moments in the first couple seasons, and I'm not sure the sixth season makes sense if you aren't super familiar with Breaking Bad.
