AI is bad, made by bad people, attractive to bad people, for bad reasons, and implemented by collectives of bad people (corporations) in ways that make it unavoidable whether you like it or not. And all this is done without accountability and at great, great cost to natural resources.

Anything that gives the vast minority power over the vast majority whether they like it or not is by very definition oppressive.

The cutting edge never seems to really care who’s bleeding.

AI as it’s generally presented right now seems founded on the premise that human capacity is not enough to satisfy the appetite of wealth consolidation amongst fewer and fewer people. That is fundamentally anti-human which is a definition of evil that would get a pretty broad consensus across a lot of religious/philosophical divides.

Another radical opinion I have is that nothing , no tool or object touched by a human, is morally neutral because it is made by and/or made use of by people who are not morally neutral.

Since this is a Pearl Jam forum: for every tool they lend us, a loss of independence. And you can’t be neutral on a moving train.

I seem to recall Alan Rickman saying he’d cut a man’s heart out with a spoon. Why, you ask? It’s dull, you twit, it’ll hurt more.

I rest my case.
