It’s just laughably on brand.

Is this the new grocery thread?

I want to go on record praising the new style of self-checkout line I use at my HEB. The one where you scan items then slide them down to a bagger. Best of both worlds.

Our Kroger and Walmarts have this but never anyone to bag. I always ring everything up a pay then go to the end and bag it all up.

I still have not stepped foot in a Walmart since 2007.

What happened in 2007? Are you hinting at the fallout from some huge incident?

yes, it was the franklin foam bat fiasco.

my counsin and i were at my sister's in michigan. we marked off a strike zone against the back wall inside of her garage, and started playing baseball with a franklin foam bat and ball. the ball would break about 3 feet if thrown with enough velocity. we ended up swinging so hard so many times that the foam eventually flew off the bat, so we had to go get a new one.

a walmart was the closest store nearby. we got there, found what we were looking for, and went to pay. but then the stupid bat rang up for $50. i insisted it was a mistake. the cashier wouldn't relent. he did a price check, and sure as heck, it was $50. i told him the tag on the display said it was $7.99. he made me go back to prove it. so we waited for a worker to walk all the way back with me.

i showed her. she didn't believe me. instead she found a tag on the wall for another product that wasn't even there and said that the price for that product was correct (note: whatever that product was, it was $19.99, so not even close to the $7.99 or $50). we had to call the manager over who finally agreed with me and said the cashier should overwrite the price at the register. this whole delay took about 10 minutes.

when we finally got back to the register, i saw a janitor in front of the checkout, which had since closed down. my counsin was nowhere to be found. neither was the cashier guy. at that time i said fuck it, and left to go find my cousin. i called him, but he didn't answer. my sister lived only about 15 minutes away, so i just walked home by myself.

when i got back to my sister's my cousin was sitting watching tv in my clothes. what the fuck? he explained that after i left, some largely obese woman with her largely obese child waddled up behind him in the checkout. they were buying a bunch of gummy worms and fanta. the fat kid was stuffing his face with doritos, which he proceeded to throw up all over the place, including on my cousin, who immediately ran out of the store to get home to shower and wash himself.

i have never stepped foot in a walmart again. and i never will.

I had not been to a Walmart in years until we moved out here to the boondocks...we take our dog to a nearby town to get groomed so we always have about 2 hours to kill...we go to their local store and stock up on canned San Marzano's

these are good as well (in fact, I like them for pizza sauce because they have less moisture)

This is my go to brand. All varieties tend to be low in salt, usually lower that those that state 'low salt' actually.
