I told my wife "don't react, respond" when she started screaming at me about the credit card bill and all the PJ merch and Funko Pops I bought

That part is great reminded me of binaural
after last night, i was wrong. i was talking about the artificially high-pitched responddddddddd right before the killer outro.

an old-man snarly growl would've been more organic, but maybe i'm nit picking

I was really, really worried that this song was going to be a "political" defence of tone-policing, but after my cinema visit I'm glad to say it isn't

this song kills, I love it

I just think this song is so groovy and funky and I love that Ed kinda raps / rhymes a lot half way through

I really think this is the type of song that has staying power

Ed actually says "oh baby, baby" and that just cements it as an 80s Michael J Fox movie pop masterpiece

As the kids say - this song fucks.

I wish the chorus was as strong as everything else though.

Conceptually, it's nearly identical to Fugazi's "Place/Position." But Ed can't deliver these sorts of everyman wisdom nuggets anymore without sounding dumb.

Yeah. There are a couple “react, responds” that sound fine but he starts throwing on every weird inflection that he knows and they all do sound dumb.

The yell/scream out of the Choruses sound pretty good though.
