The extent to which Ed had to actually sell how much he liked those bands and then giving into letting it affect PJ's music was pretty embarrassing (to me). I wish he would have just rolled more with who he/PJ actually were, especially since most of Cobain's criticism came from a spot of jealousy.

I love Ed but you know it's true.

Can’t agree with this because we got some of the most effective songs from this era: Sometimes, Habit, Happy When I’m Crying…
I'm talking about Ed's 20 year quest to turn PJ into a punk band.

This thread is great. Way more entertaining than the album thread.

It's a bad video but I don't know that it's embarrassing. The Life Wasted video comes to mind as something more embarrassing.

Please tell me that's AI generated... even if it isn't.

I see where you're coming from. I just rewatched PJ20 and then the London O2 2009 show. The Ed from the 90's (self defensive, van driving, can't be seen to enjoy success) is so very at odds with the 2009 version (starting sing alongs and clearly enjoying the adulation).
Like the comments in the PRAMG thread, I do wonder if Ed had been a bit more comfortable with himself how PJ would have tracked through the late 90's early 2000s.

As was said above, if Ed feeling that way got us PJ's stellar track record throughout the 90s, it's hard for me to say that's the worst offender.

Just to add to the list
The “thank you, Bob Honey” line is unforgivable. I think of those NYE pics with Ed, Sean Penn, and Bill Mahr, and that’s also embarrassing.
Ed treating his longtime tech like shit on stage and that tech consequently quitting.
When Ed recommended the book Ishmael as the key to understanding Yield. That book sucked dick.
Adding Oven Mitts on the keyboard to the touring lineup.
When Mike got fat.
Acknowledging “the Greek” and becoming a live jukebox for Pit posters to memorialize their dead wives and fathers.
