I think that's a toastie.

I like frying an egg and then putting it between the slices of cheese before I grill the sandwich.
I thought a toastie was when you have bread over and under, and a grilled cheese is a open sandwich. No?
What you're describing is cheese on toast.

My favorite is an open grilled sandwich with cheese, salami, dressing inside, and some spices above the cheese. About 7 minutes in a hot oven.

Aha. Not what I’d consider a toast. Interesting. Toast breaad I make in a toaster.

I see. I call that a toast sandwich. Never make one without meat.

I think that's a toastie.

I like frying an egg and then putting it between the slices of cheese before I grill the sandwich.
adding egg instantly makes it a breakfast sandwich

no longer a grilled cheese

Right, but inside of what? If it's an open faced sandwich

It's hysterical. "Look at that... beautiful melted cheese" and it's a solid block of cheese

Look at the pictures I posted.

One slice of bread
Dressing
One or two slices of thin meat
Cheese
Some spice (like oregano)
Warm oven
Seven minutes inside it
Done
