Im enjoying a lot more this album than previous releases. I wonder if its because there is some kind of band behind her. Its still so fucking long but she kinda always does very long albums anyway.
Tyrant is also really cool. I love how she is sampling different stuff in the back and then a beat transforms everything into a pop song.

This probably my favorite of 2024 so far, but I think it somehow manages to be too long and simultaneously the songs seem to go by too fast. But most of it is quite good.

I want KD to give this album a listen, I think he'll have a lot to say about it

The Blackbird cover is one of the weakest tracks for sure.

Yeah, I kind of agree -- setting aside the "thematic importance" or whatever, I just think those first three tracks are a drag to listen to, track one almost made me turn off the album right away. I can't even come up with a better way to open the album from the existing tracklist, I just hate the sound of it. I also get why it was important to have "Blackbird" on there as a sort of statement but strictly as a piece of recorded music, it's a nice enough cover of a song that has been covered to death. And then, hot take, "16 Carriages" is just dull in the extreme.
This is a great album though, it just takes a while to get going for me

This morning I sang that song about Beyonce's ass in Levi's jeans to my family and it did not go over well.

American Requiem and 16 Carriages are an absolutely fantastic way to open a record
