I always thought that "bug" was an informal term for all insects, spiders... Etc, but according to Google that isn't true

"Bugs are a type of insect, but not all insects are bugs. In general, "bug" is a term used to describe any small land arthropod with at least six legs, including insects, spiders, and centipedes. However, more specifically, a bug is an insect in the Hemiptera group, which means it has piercing mouthparts. True bugs have straw-shaped mouthparts called proboscises that they use to suck up juices from plants or other small animals. True bugs also undergo incomplete metamorphosis, meaning their eggs hatch as nymphs and then transform into adults. Some examples of true bugs include aphids, cicadas, leafhoppers, bed bugs, stink bugs, and water bugs. "

That's nothing to be proud of, dad. Bugs have a right to exist.

our yard, along with several other houses in our neighborhood backup to what used to be a pipe yard. it's in the process of becoming another neighborhood...but since we bought the house six years ago, we've occasionally gotten visits from scorpions, and they have no right to exist in my house.

they all deserve to die.

That's your fault for living in a hostile environment. You should move to a more civilized part of the country

I generally try to rescue bugs and spiders in my house and throw them outside.

Except for mosquitoes, fleas and roaches. They get instant death. No exceptions.

I don't like the negative connotations of that. We shouldn't be encouraging people to fear/hate insects and spiders (like dad)
