I suspect that by the time we are geriatric, not only will society be unable to care for the elderly, but popular sentiment will be decidedly anti-taking care of old people, for several reasons.

I'm just wondering when the switch will come in movies where the evil mastermind changes from "we must eliminate 90% of the population to save the earth" to "we must impregnate every woman on the planet with twins". James Bond will have a hell of a choice to make.

Interesting read. Thanks for posting. It does make you think about the whole situation in a new light. People can be quick to support assisted suicide from a high level perspective, but digging deeper brings up a whole new set of complications, ideas and "what ifs".

If it's true that we are wrapping up globalization and the American patrolled (and paid for) global trade networks, then most of Trump's policies seem roughly in line with that. His attempt to rapidly re-shore manufacturing might be seen as ripping the bandaid off, which might explain why there seems to be less resistance to him. But then again, tariffs on Mexico seems to work against the "nearshoring" strategy.
