I'm sorry. This isn't an exciting or iconoclastic choice. It is in fact very boring because it is so obvious. But I found it. I found the worst movie of 2024.

I'm in my hometown and wanted to go to the movies with my Dad today before I fly back to Argentina tomorrow. The only thing that was playing at a time that was convenient for us was Kraven the Hunter. I figured "I know it'll be bad, but it's more about the experience of watching a movie with my dad so fuck it."

Kraven the Hunter is one of the most confusing movies I've ever seen, just in terms of trying to understand the choices the filmmakers made. It is inept at every turn. The movie is not even funny bad*. It's tedious, annoying, barely-holding-together bad, nausea-in-an-interminable-Uber-ride bad.

The story is nothing. The characters are nothing. There are no themes. It's the most "a bunch of annoying stuff that happens" movie I've ever seen. And not even that, everything is muddled and so awkwardly conveyed. There are so many obvious and badly done ADR lines thrown in. The writing is atrocious. Everything looks various shades of grey. And Aaron Taylor Johnson is BAD. I've liked this guy in a lot of things but boy does he stink up the joint on this one.

I skipped Morbius and Madame Web. I will never watch those movies, but I have to admit I am now curious if they are similarly awful.

*Except for one line that made me laugh. There is a moment a character says "my grandmother died, and I never saw her again."

Basically how I feel about Rebel Moon, which makes LV and Argo pretending to like it 100x more annoying.

Hey at least you and your dad can reminisce about how terrible it was.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Dude you should watch madame web at the plane. I saw it on my way to Paris and I couldn’t believe what it was. Dakota seemed in pain and super bored and that ending!! She turns and she has the worst suit ever and some awful glasses and you are supposed to think ohhhh this was her origin story!! I want the sequel nowww

Madame Web almost rises to "so bad it's good", but in the end it's just very very bad.

I need to see Kraven and Mobius to compare.

You are correct. The premise did seem fun.
I watched it last night on an airplane. Wow, this movie was a new level of stupid, completely pissing over any notion of plausibility multiple times, and with an extremely tedious and protracted dialogue-heavy resolution that made me want to die. I think everyone knows the casting of Lady Raven was a mistake as the poor girl just can't carry it, but actually my least-favorite performance came from the profiler lady with her stupid David Attenborough accent, so cartoony. Very bad. And yet I don't think it's the worst movie of 2024, because for a while there I found it good goofy fun; watching Josh Hartnett traverse the guts of a concert venue and wearing silly costumes and being a weirdo, Shyamalan shooting it like a Scooby Doo chase montage, I found that part (so about half of the movie) campy and enjoyable. It's really only when they leave the venue that it becomes annoying and dull for me.

I can’t believe you’re throwing Hayley Mills under the bus like this

Why are you so angry?
