Each of us believes we have a true self right? And we are all trying to figure out who we are and all that bullshit.

I suspect some of us aren't selves. Like Spike, for example. No internal monologue. Just a consensus follower. a herd animal.

Not really. Viewing it as lesser of two evils is part of the problem.

Democrats are inept idiots and Republicans are greedy con-man destructionists. One is unfortunate, the other is evil. It has merely evolved out of control thanks to modern society. And our current moronic cultural climate is a logical reflection of this. It's not a great choice, but it shouldn't be difficult to see which would be more detrimental to our future.

The masses manipulated by Trumpism (in part by them invoking religion and playing on their fears - oldest tricks in the book) will never accept or admit that they've been duped, and will likely also be oblivious to the ironic eventual result of getting fucked harder than their perceived enemy. It's exactly the same thing that happens in cults.
