Okay, well I obviously can't do anything to convince you. Believe whatever you want. But it was entirely meant to be funny. Ivc understood that and that's all that matters.spike wrote: Nah, you can’t get away with that joke, or claiming it was. Too many examples of you accusing posters of being women haters.
Was LVC being misogynistic? Or are you making a strawman argument to defend your initial post?epilogue wrote:Okay, well I obviously can't do anything to convince you. Believe whatever you want. I'd love to see examples of my calling people "women haters." I'm not saying it hasn't happened but I'd need to see the context. Because I bet they said something damning to warrant that response. Calling out misogynistic behavior isn't a bad thing even if it makes you uncomfortable.

The ironic thing is that this post is the strawman argument, because Joe hasn't said lvc is being misogynistic (if we believe the "you must not want women to vote" comment was a joke, which I do)Monkey_Driven wrote:Was LVC being misogynistic? No, he wasn't being misogynistic at all.Monkey_Driven wrote:Was LVC being misogynistic? I really appreciate this. Thank you.Jorge wrote:I believe youepilogue wrote:This is incredibly hurtful and crosses a line.Ello Sailor wrote:Joe is such a gaslighting POS lmao.
The rest of the post reads earnest and indignant so the jump to "I bet you think women shouldn't vote" doesn't register as comedically over-the-top as intended
But I get what you were going for
I do too. It's even further complicated by the waves of criticism and misogyny the league has faced since it was formed 30 years ago.Jorge wrote:I know it's not uncommon for certain posters to infer that someone is racist or sexist for disliking a certain piece of entertainment -- it's happened a lot in A&E, where thoughtful and well-articulated opinions are sometimes conflated with that of the most toxic people on the internet by sheer virtue of standing on the same side of the Like vs. Dislike spectrum. But I'm talking about what went down in this thread exclusively, and I think Joe is being misunderstood.
So absurd that it was clearly a joke, bro.epilogue wrote:This is incredibly hurtful and crosses a line.Ello Sailor wrote:Joe is such a gaslighting POS lmao.
lol ok broepilogue wrote:Okay good. Then you agree. The league experienced record attendance and viewership last year. There's been a rise in sponsorship and ad revenue. There's a new 11 year media rights deal set to hit next year and the CBA is up for negotiation. You admit they deserve a raise given ticket sales so I'm not sure why you're in attack mode here.Bammer wrote:Good!VinylGuy wrote:Bammer wrote:Is the issue that:epilogue wrote:That's another great question/point. Hopefully, the new CBA fixes that.Peeps wrote:how many very good college players forgo the WNBA to play overseas where the pay is more enticing?
A) Owners aren’t sharing much of the revenue with players in the form of salaries;
Or
B) There isn’t enough revenue - ticket sales, TV ads, etc. - to pay the salaries that would compete with overseas money?
In other words:
A) Greedy owners?
Or
B) Lack of revenue / interest in the sport?
I dont know much bout WNBA, but here in Argentina, both basketball and soccer in their female leagues have been growing a lot, really fast these last 10 years from what it used to be. Its still very far from other succesful and marketable female sports like tennis, but its going there for sure.
If they can sell tickets then the players should get PAID!
But first you gotta sell tickets.
The sport is growing. It's never been more popular o profitable. The league is expanding. They added a new team this year, and two more are coming. You make more per year than these professional athletes (at least the ones without State Farm commercials or Nike shoe deals). It's weird how badly you don't want them to get paid even a little more money.
