isn't soundgarden getting inducting into the RNR HOF? he probably wants that to be his last performance. i hope they get ed to sing 'outshined' with them.

I'm going to assume this was amicable and just not wanting to have obligations to touring anymore. But still a shock and a shame.
Thank you Matt - it was a great run!

Have you seen Dave’s social media? He’s more anti Trump than anyone currently in PJ
I am not on social media. I stand corrected.
Sorry, Dave A. You can come back...So long as you don't attend any Ellen Degeneres comedy specials or hang out with Bill Mahr like Ed.

Probably retiring.
Matt Chamberlain is the obvious pick here.

This seems the most likely outcome to me, too. Official Pearl Jam is the core four, but like now with all the very special friends, there will be very special friendly drummers for a tour or an album

Well that’s devastating. I hope they push forward with someone else. I hear Zak Starkey needs a regular gig…but my guess is Richard Stuverud which would be perfect since he has a long history with Jeff Ament and that’s a pretty important duo to have proper chemistry.

I doubt the retiring thing. Soundgarden is supposed to be working on that last Chris album. Maybe he just wanted more time to work on that.

he's probably just tired. he's been drumming at a 2x pace since 1998.

He did say he turned down Oasis, only to get fired by the Who a second time.
It would be on-brand for Ed to feast on Townshend table scraps.

given how new drummers have influenced their sound up till now, this news might be even more significant than a new producer for the next album
eager to find out who's replacing him, and I'll be spinning Riot Act in his honour
