I thought this week was the season finale, not the second-to-last, so even if I wanted to try and spoil it I’d be off by a week.

Can you believe Dunk trusted that rotten apple?

10/10 episode. Thought they might’ve opted for a flashback over the trial of seven, but it rhymed; like poetry

9/10. 1 point deducted for Dunk's girlfriend, Rafe, being a goddamn idiot.

Hats off to the choreography in that fighting scene. It's so difficult to portray the chaos without it being entirely confusing to the audience. That struck a perfect balance.

10.5/10 for that shot where it switches to inside his helmet POV

I read the book but was still stressed during the trial.

In the book, the post-battle reveal is even gorier:
Spoiler: show
When the helmet comes off, a part of Baelor’s skull and maybe brain fall to the ground. I was wondering how they were going to portray that, and I think it worked perfectly with him turning around. His complaint that his visor is cracked is in the text, but paired with the visual that there’s actually no visor, it really starts to hit you that it’s bad.

Egg’s actor may have let out another spoiler, this time about a surprise casting in the final episode. But watching the video, they may actually be joking around about the spoiler he did actually drop. I dunno. We’ll see.

The more I think about it, the more I think this may be casting for season 2.

The boy they cast as Egg is a goddamn treasure. The casting director really knocked it out of the park with this show.

What an episode. I'd now like GRRM to prioritize finishing the D&E novellas instead of ASOIAF or F&B.

I could watch this again and again. Looking forward to a movie length fan cut.

A buddy has recommended this show. I don’t really have any desire to because, as I understand it, it’s a prequel to GoT. Is this steeped in GoT lore? Will it be a turnoff?

No; it’s a very easy lift. The source material was written as a short story for an anthology featuring other authors, so it was meant to be accessible

I don’t think it’s too steeped in lore, unlike the main series there’s no dragons or really explicit instances of magic that require an explanation of the different races that have inhabited the continent over the course of millennia. There’s some shorthand when it comes to the different levels of society, but if you’ve read or watched any fantasy series ever, you’ll catch on quick.

I know you asked the same question about Fallout and I’ll say there are TONS more references to deep lore in that show, even if you don’t have to know them to follow along. This show feels like it purposefully cut the fat to tell a direct, manageable story.

The damage that the final two seasons of GoT and the most recent season of HotD did to the reputation of the IP is frustrating.

I've told a few people that they should give this show a shot and they're all "ehhh I'm kinda over the whole Westeros thing".

A real shame. This show slaps.

I love it. I had some problems with some of the flashback stuff during the Trial of Seven but other than that they fucking nailed this.
