I had to set up a new laptop for my son who's starting in our business with us next week. I found CHATGPT to be incredibly helpful with that process. Not that it was difficult or anything, but I used it to explain why, or why not, I should make certain choices (personal or work/school for example) and other things. Saved me some grief and I learned a lot about why certain settings and choices are important and what they really do behind the scenes.

I've then moved on to have it help me re-arrange some other aspects of our businesses IT structure.

Back in the day I was the IT guy for our business. With the advent of subscriptions and online software things got trickier and I moved away from that stuff choosing to contract things out. CHATGPT though is giving me the ability and knowledge to take that stuff up again, and I enjoy that.

I did have to laugh though. I was having a discussion about why I should or shouldn't move from my windows 10 laptop to windows 11. CHATGPT was agreeing with me that I could stay on my Windows 10 laptop for now "but my answer may change - ask me again when November 2025 rolls around".

I responded with "Dude - it's January 2026 right now..."

Stuff like that really shakes my trust in the whole thing. The AI is so fucking confident even when it's blatantly wrong.

I don't see how OpenAI outlasts Google. Not only is their model apparently worse than Gemini, but they also have to beg for more cash while Google has infinite money. Plus, Sam Altman is very punchable. He makes Zuckerberg almost seem like a real person.
