Yeah... This thread isn't really for you... And your take is unbearable...
Mediocre response!
On first glance I thought this said Medicare response

I wish Dev would pony up and give him a medieval response.

More likely to be a mercurial response

I don’t really buy this framing. It feels true if you mostly experience "the left" through mass culture and "the right" through its weirdest internet subcultures but that’s a sampling issue. The left has classic libs, democratic socialists, Marxists (about 700 different types), anarchists, anti-authoritarian leftists, institutional liberals, labor-first organizers, identity-skeptical class reductionists, climate absolutists, degrowth people, technocratic policy wonks, mutual-aid types, accelerationists, anti-imperialists who hate each other’s guts, etc. They fight constantly and I'm sure you've seen it, over markets, the state, speech, borders, technology, reform vs revolution, abolitionism, sex work, what even counts as justice, a bunch of shit. The right is funnier to watch for reasons that I think are obvious though
Burt’s post was just his latest attempt to distance himself from MAGA.

The backpedaling has been constant since new year's day. "Let's just forget everything (like how I'm a joyless POS)"

I don’t think it’s like this in other countries, but in the US rooting hard for our national athletes has always felt slightly conservative-coded for me. Implicitly cheering “Woo USA #1!” somehow makes me feel like I’m at the RNC. But I’ve got my alarm set for the hockey game this afternoon and am excited about the WBC next month.

Hmm nah I think every country roots for their team. I don't think it's a conservative thing

It's not inherently douchey to cheer for your country but some people and definitely some Americans have a sort of gross nationalistic pride thing heavily embedded in their cheering. I totally know what Simple Torture is talking about.

How is cheering for your own country not inherently a nationalist pride thing?

We're collapsing a few different things here. I don’t think national pride is inherently conservative. Political nationalism is a specific ideology but rooting for your country in sports just strikes me as extremely normal human behavior.
But yeah it can definitely cross over into grossness. You should look into some of the controversies around Argentine hinchas, especially during the last World Cup.

No it’s a liberal thing now because conservatives secretly hate current America and are trying to dismantle it.

Hockey is currently the gayest sport so I doubt I’ll be sharing my viewing with much of the right.

Is this based purely on the success of Heated Rivalry or?

Sort of crazy that Kid Rock held onto celebrity status when he had like one popular song?

I think Jesse Lee Peterson is deplorable but he's all over my algorithm and though I don't agree at all I laugh sometimes.
