So it's Stone's song?igotworms wrote:He wrote the main riff - there was a Stone interview where he mentioned that Dave and Stone switched instruments for a jam and the main riff came out of that. Pretty sure that means that Stone would have then finessed the song and penned the bridge/chorus.evenslow wrote:I'm starting to think so maybe.EJ wrote:Dave's Song?
Is this a joke?
I thought it was about Letterman.evenslow wrote:So it's Stone's song?igotworms wrote:He wrote the main riff - there was a Stone interview where he mentioned that Dave and Stone switched instruments for a jam and the main riff came out of that. Maybe thejambi or Lament can help with this. *shines the Go-signal*
I think we've finally figured it out.Thejambi wrote:I thought it was about Letterman.evenslow wrote:So it's Stone's song?igotworms wrote:He wrote the main riff - there was a Stone interview where he mentioned that Dave and Stone switched instruments for a jam and the main riff came out of that. How many live versions stack up to the studio versions though, really? It seems weird that you'd take a point off the studio ranking for that.EJ wrote:Its 4 stars for me. Love the studio version, not a huge fan of the live versions.
It was such a gut punch listening to that the day the album was released.
I'm not taking a point off. But, the studio version of this in particular hits me much harder than many songs in their catalog.harmless wrote:How many live versions stack up to the studio versions though, really? No, that was Leatherman. They had to change the song title slightly for reasons relating to Dave L's image rights.Thejambi wrote:I thought it was about Letterman.evenslow wrote:So it's Stone's song?igotworms wrote:He wrote the main riff - there was a Stone interview where he mentioned that Dave and Stone switched instruments for a jam and the main riff came out of that. Who's Dave L? Was that the third drummer before Jack?igotworms wrote:They had to change the song title slightly for reasons relating to Dave L's image rights.
I kind of listen to them as 1 song. Neither has really any merits or faults compared to the other.evenslow wrote:For the record, I have it as a 4-star song. I have Animal as a 5-star song, so it may suffer slightly in comparison to these ears. From day one, I always loved Go but really couldn't wait to get to Animal.
Agreed on the intro. And, yeah, I kind of do the same thing.Thejambi wrote:I kind of listen to them as 1 song. [edit] i lied..the intro to Go is superior to the counting.
